SIUE Cougars Partner with Nevco’s Hype for Season Opens
GREENVILLE, IL, November 23, 2015– The Cougars of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) recently partnered with Hype Creative Services, a division of Nevco, to make an impactful entrance on the courts this season with new Video Opens for their fall sports!
Under the direction of SIUE’s Assistant AD for Sales & Marketing, Mason Glick, the Hype team worked with the Cougars’ Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, and Men’s Basketball teams to create their own video opens featuring each team.
“The development of these videos have brought a new level of excitement to our pre-game atmosphere for Cougar fans,” says Glick. “Working with Hype helped us create unique videos that deliver a message for each team and overall enhance the game day experience at the Vadalabene Center.”
The Volleyball team filmed their video first, incorporating the use of a GoPro Camera and action shots to give the fans a Volleyball player’s prospective. Hype utilized the team’s motto, Relentless, while producing the video, showing hard-hitting spikes and hard-to-reach digs. The team debuted the video at their first 2015 home game during the Cougar Classic, SIUE’s Annual Volleyball Tournament.
In September, both the Women’s and Men’s basketball teams stepped up to take their turn on camera. The Women’s team went with a “Hollywood Premier” theme, incorporating all the members of their team, including a cameo from Head Coach, Paula Buscher. Players are featured rolling up to the Vadalabene Center, walking the red carpet to cheering fans, and then hyping-up to their pre-game ritual. The Men’s Video Open centers around the start of a new season with a new leader, Head Coach Jon Harris. Coach Harris, a native of Edwardsville, is featured getting ready to lead his team onto the court, while the players are dispersed around the town, see the Cougar signal in the sky, and run towards the Vadalabene Center ready to take the court. Both Basketball video opens were debuted at the third annual Cougar Madness Event, held to celebrate the beginning of basketball season, on Thursday, October 22nd.

SIUE’s relationship with Nevco dates back to 2009, when they partnered together to install a new Video Display and Scoring Solution in the Sam M. Vadalabene Center.
