Fort Lewis College revitalizes game-day with Nevco Video Display at Ray Dennison Memorial Field
Skyhawks renew partnership with Nevco to bolster atmosphere for football and women’s lacrosse
EDWARDSVILLE, IL, December 7, 2023 – A school at 6,782 feet of elevation in Durango, CO, is elevating its game-day profile once again and ushering in a new home field advantage for its athletes, fans and the surrounding community.
After teaming up with Nevco Sports, LLC to bring new scoring upgrades to Whalen Gymnasium in 2018, Fort Lewis College maintained its partnership to deliver a transformation to Ray Dennison Memorial Field for the football and women’s lacrosse programs. The natural grass venue which seats up to 6,000 and has been in operation since 1959 will now feature a full-color 16mm LED Video Display reaching 13.05’H and stretching 25.2’W.
Skyhawks fans will be drawn to over 115,000 vibrant pixels lighting up each game with highlights, new views of live action, key stats and information, interactive graphics and prompts to boost school spirit, a virtual scoring package and more. This is made possible through Nevco Creative Services, which allows this southwestern Colorado school near the Four Corners region to shape the game-day experience in its own vision.
“We are focused on building a premier program of excellence that is committed to graduating champions. Projects like this enhance the student-athlete experience and assist our recruiting efforts,” said FLC Director of Athletics Travis Whipple.
“Our setting is the most beautiful in all of NCAA Division II, and this upgrade will bring innovation into our game environment. This is one of our department’s core values, and this project’s impressive features and designs align perfectly with who we are and the type of program we are building. Fort Lewis students, faculty, staff, alumni, fans, and the community will benefit from this state-of-the-art video scoreboard.”
The display sits above a custom strip LED football scoreboard with standout translucent white and amber digits and Electronic Team Names, allowing the school to customize names and offer a more personal and welcoming atmosphere for each team that uses the facility. Signage is featured above the display proudly showing “Fort Lewis College” and beneath the scoreboard for sponsorships, while the entire video scoring solution is topped off by a Decorative Arch Truss with Truss Letters spelling “Skyhawks” along with flanking logos of the school mascot to further amplify school spirit. The upgrades at Ray Dennison Memorial Field were completed with a set of DGT-6 Delay of Game Timers.
