FLORIDA SOUTHERN COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS GEORGE W. JENKINS FIELDHOUSE WITH NEVCO VIDEO DISPLAYS AND SCORING SOLUTIONS
GREENVILLE, IL, January 13, 2020 – Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL teamed up with Nevco Sports, LLC to deliver new Video Displays and Scoring Solutions to George W. Jenkins Fieldhouse. Florida Southern is a member of the Sunshine State Conference, which recently recognized Nevco as the Official Scoreboard and Video Display Sponsor.
George W. Jenkins Fieldhouse, which houses Streamline Sale Arena, opened its doors in 1965 with a seating capacity of 1,800. The fieldhouse is the home of the men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams and played host to the 2019 Men’s and Women’s Sunshine State Conference Champion Basketball teams in addition to the 2017 NCAA National Runner-Up Women’s Volleyball team. Florida Southern has 30 NCAA Division II National Championships, the most of any school in the Sunshine State Conference.
Mounted to the walls on each end of the court are new Nevco full color, 6mm LED Video Displays. The larger of the two video displays commands attention upon entering the arena standing alone on the wall opposite of the entrance. The video display stretches 10’H and spans over 16’W. On the entrance side of the court, the second video display sits above a Model 2700 Scoreboard and stands nearly 8’H and reaches almost 12’W. The video displays deliver an astounding 603,200 eye-catching pixels to the Moccasin’s courtside.
“As a partner of the Sunshine State Conference, we are excited to bring these impressive upgrades to Florida Southern,” said Jeff Besserman, Nevco Sports Video Regional Manager. “The new video displays and accessories light up the fieldhouse and bring an exceptional game-day atmosphere for the players, fans, coaches, and the entire surrounding community.”
The video display is controlled through the use of Nevco’s proprietary Display Director™ Software. Display Director™ offers numerous capabilities including live in-game action, instant replays, captivating animated graphics, as well as endless sponsorship opportunities. The Moccasins partnered with Nevco’s HYPE Creative Services to bring the video displays to life with various different fan prompts, logo animations, games, and more!
“This is a huge step forward for us at Florida Southern as we continue to upgrade and improve our athletic facilities to enhance the student-athlete experience,” said Ryan Bower, Director of Athletic Communications at Florida Southern College. “The new videoboards are a wonderful addition that will help us bring dynamic and engaging content to our game-day experience. We’re absolutely thrilled with the results so far, and we look forward to continuing to work with Nevco in the future.”
The Moccasin’s Model 2700 Scoreboard is complete with Electronic Team Names allowing Florida Southern to customize the team names for every game played at George W. Jenkins Fieldhouse. The scoreboard is flanked by signs emblazoned with the Florida Southern logo. To complete their scoring solution, the Moccasins also included Locker Room Clocks, SSC-T5 Shot Clock and Game Clocks, and End of Period Lights for backboards.
The Moccasins unveiled the new Nevco Video Displays and Scoring Solutions on November 29th for the men’s basketball home opener against the University of New Haven. Check out the live install photos below, and be sure to read more about other recent Nevco projects at nevco.com.
