Southeastern Oklahoma State University adds Nevco displays to enhance game-day for multiple programs
New scoring upgrades ready to debut for football and basketball programs this upcoming season
EDWARDSVILLE, IL, June 25, 2024 – After more than 100 years of athletic competition, nearly one million pixels will capture the action like never before at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Founded in 1909, the Division II school in Durant, OK, partnered with Nevco Sports, LLC to add intriguing new scoring upgrades for its football and basketball programs including new LED Video Displays at Paul Laird Field and Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
“From start to finish the Nevco Team was so easy to work with, they accommodated our every need,” said Keith Baxter, Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Director of Athletics. “Whether it was guidance through their technology, helping to determine location of equipment or adjusting and meeting very tight timelines, Nevco got it right each time. The quality of the video and intensity of the sound will greatly enhance our student-athlete and fan experience at Paul Laird Field! The new board in Bloomer Sullivan Arena will allow us to do so much more with our game day experience. We couldn’t be happier.”
Paul Laird Field, named after the school’s first football coach who served from 1909 to 1920, is the home of a new full-color 10mm LED Display spanning 16.2’H by 28.35’W that will showcase unlimited content this fall from pre-game festivities through the final whistle. Over 414,000 pixels will light up the field and keep fans engaged from team highlights and introductions to interactive graphics and fan prompts, sponsorships, live action and more while also featuring virtual scoring.
Prominently featured above the new video solution is sponsorship signage and a Stadium Pro™ 1500 Sound System with custom-imprinted front mesh scrim showing the school logo. The audio upgrade, designed to meet the specific needs of the venue, will offer crystal clear sound throughout the stadium that can be heard above crowd noise. The new scoring additions at the football complex were completed with a Model 3658 Scoreboard on the opposite end with a Custom Caption Plate replacing “Home” with “Storm” and a set of DGT-6-T14 Delay of Game Timers.
Moving inside to Bloomer Sullivan Arena, the home of the Savage Storm men and women’s basketball programs, is where a full-color 6mm LED Display is showcasing all the action. Reaching 7.92 feet in height and stretching 26.77 feet in width, over 489,000 pixels of sharp resolution are ready to transform the game-day experience inside the arena that opened in 2008 and seats up to 3,600. The indoor display also features a virtual scoring package and unlimited content as an intriguing addition to the existing Nevco Model 2770 Scoreboard, SSC-T5 Shot Clocks, End of Period Lights and Model 9715 Locker Room Clocks.
“It was a privilege to collaborate with Keith and his great team to bring these exciting new elements to the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University,” said Jeff Besserman, Vice President of Sales at Nevco. “We cannot wait to see the impact it will have for each program and the university as a whole from highlighting the players to elevating the fan experience and promoting the entire community. We look forward to seeing game-day in Durant and continuing to serve the needs of SOSU for many years to come.”
