PENSACOLA STATE COLLEGE ELEVATES GAME-DAY EXPERIENCE AT HARTSELL ARENA WITH NEVCO PARTNERSHIP

GREENVILLE, IL, March 17, 2020 – When Pensacola State College in Pensacola, FL needed to replace and update their outdated scoring system, they knew they needed a partner who would guide them through the process and be there after installation to ensure the system was running smoothly. The Pirates were quick to highlight the importance of finding the right vendor who could provide a high-quality system and deliver training, support, and service to the game-day operations staff at Pensacola State. This was important to the athletic department after a bad experience with a previous company who fell short on training and on-going support.

The new game-day system was needed in Hartsell Arena – a popular hub on campus for athletics and the community. Hartsell Arena is home to the Pensacola State College Pirate’s men and women’s basketball teams and Lady Pirate volleyball team. The arena also hosts the college’s intramural basketball teams and many other events that draw students into the facility. Given the high profile of the arena to the college, community and competitors, the Pirates wanted someone they could count on. That’s when they turned to Nevco after an extensive bid process.

Pensacola State College liked the visual renderings of their personalized scoring solution, in addition to the respect and support they were given throughout the entire sales process. The visuals showcased the excitement and energy a new system would bring to game day, the pricing was competitive, and the Pirates knew their dedicated scoring consultant, Jeff Besserman and the entire team at Nevco would stand by their side long after installation was complete. Nevco was ultimately selected as a result of their combined technical excellence, excellent warranty, and commitment to service.

“It was important for us to not just get Pensacola – or any of our clients for that matter – the right system at the right price, but to show them that we would be there for them every step of the way,” explains Jeff, sports video regional manager for Nevco. “We think of every client as a partner and are committed to ensuring success before, during and after installation – no matter the project. The Pirates saw this and we’re proud to say that’s a big reason why they selected us to work with on their new scoring system.”

Vibrant, high-quality video displays usher in a new era at Hartsell Arena

As the project progressed from bid to installation, the Nevco team worked closely with the Pirates to make sure every detail was discussed, questions were answered and the products installed would excite the crowd, amp up athletes and welcome the community.

To that end, this project included:

Crystal-clear video displays mounted at the opposite ends of the walls behind the basketball backboards. These 6mm full color LED video scoreboards draw in the crowd and athletes with vivid graphics, instant replays, HYPE videos, and more. The 9’ x 14.96’ video displays feature 668,800 total pixels to ensure every fan catches every detail of the game.

Nevco’s most popular multi-sport scoreboard delivers the flexibility and customization the Pirates needed to create a unique game-day experience for each of the games played and events hosted in the arena. The Model 2750 Scoreboard features bright, long-lasting LED lights, a built-in horn and all other game details easily seen on the scoreboard while the video boards feature crowd-engaging fan prompts.

Nevco’s basketball product line rounded out their scoring needs with two locker room clocks, a set of end-of-period LED lights and shot and game clocks to keep the atmosphere charged during every moment of the game.

A smooth installation process

From the start, Nevco was committed to ensuring all of the Pirate’s questions were answered in a timely manner and that the school felt comfortable throughout the entire process from sales to installation, providing training and on-going support.

The Nevco team worked to ensure the installation process went as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

“The bid process started in October. Pensacola State decided in December to go with us and we installed the scoring system in mid-January,” says Jeff.

The partnership between Nevco and Pensacola didn’t end once the system was installed. The Nevco team has stayed by their side providing training for the Pirates to help them discover how to take advantage of the new technology that is now available at their fingertips.

“It’s important to us that our clients are comfortable and confident with the systems they have. They also know that even after training is complete, graphics are wrapped and installation is done, we’re just a phone call away,” Jeff explains.
