Auburn High School kicks off 2022 season with Nevco Video Scoring Solution
Trojans commemorate season debut at Michael J. Potts Memorial Field on new display
EDWARDSVILLE, IL, September 8, 2022 – There was plenty of reason for Auburn High School to celebrate on August 26 at Michael J. Potts Memorial Field in Auburn, IL.
Home to Trojan football since 1969, Auburn not only welcomed fans to a brand new video, scoring and audio solution to kick off football season but put a stamp on the evening’s activities and started the year off right with a win on the gridiron. The school district teamed up with Nevco Sports, LLC to upgrade its former Nevco Model 3014 scoreboard to an impressive new scoring solution featuring a full-color 16mm LED Video Display, measuring 13.05’H by 25.2’W, ready to capture all the action on game-day.
“The Nevco team went above and beyond to make sure that our needs were met, their products fit our facilities and that we were proud of the finished product,” said Darren Root, District Superintendent at Auburn. “They gave us the personal touch to make sure we were properly trained to use the equipment. They even stayed to join us in experiencing the excitement of our new equipment being used at our first game to guarantee that everything worked properly on day one. I would definitely recommend Nevco to any of my colleagues.”
The state-of-the-art display gives the Trojans the power to not only showcase all the eye-catching highlights but utilize their display to feature the traditions of game-day through engaging graphics and prompts from Nevco Creative Services to get fans on their feet. In addition to the custom signage flanking the sides, the new display also allows Auburn to promote its sponsors and supporters generating additional revenue for the school. The school also plans to use their new scoring solution in the spring when the Trojans host track and field meets.
Fans can see all the action on top of a custom strip football scoreboard with standout amber and white LED digits and electronic team names, which allows Auburn to customize any team name for a personal touch when hosting other teams and events. Topping off the new scoring solution is a 32’W by 4’H decorative arch truss prominently featuring the school logo and a Stadium Pro™ 1000 Sound System with custom imprinted front mesh scrim proudly displaying “Michael J. Potts Memorial Field” to add to the pride of Auburn and its fans. The upgrades at the field were completed with a set of DGT-6-T-14 Delay of Game Timers.
“The atmosphere for Friday night’s football game was electric with a huge crowd and a playoff feeling. The compliments were numerous but one parent told me with the addition of the new scoreboard and videoboard, it gave us the best atmosphere at a game he has been to,” said Auburn Athletic Director Dave Bates, who previously served as the head football coach in a coaching career at Auburn spanning 35 years. “Special thanks to Tyler Klostermann at Nevco for being at the game to help. All the Nevco personnel have been great to work with.”
The feeling was mutual for Klostermann who enjoyed spending time beneath the Friday night lights at Auburn to ensure the experience was beneficial for all involved.
“It was really gratifying to see how our relationship with Darren, Dave, and Auburn CUSD #10 evolved into a strategic partnership throughout this process. Everyone affiliated with the school was a pleasure to work with,” said Klostermann, a Regional Video Display Consultant for Nevco. “Nevco takes great pride in partnering with school districts just like Auburn’s to bring these amazing new scoring and display solutions to facilities everywhere. Without question, the best part of my job is seeing the positive feedback at the first home game from the entire community on these facility upgrades. We look forward to continuing this great partnership with Auburn for years to come.”
And the new scoring solution is not all the Auburn School District has to look forward to as new scoreboards and a scorers table are scheduled to be installed at the middle school while a new marquee is coming to the high school in the coming weeks.
